P-16 Council Authority

Virginia's P-16 Council was created by executive order (Warner, EO 100) in October 2005, and continued under Governor Kaine (EO 40) in October 2006. 

Chaired by the Secretary of Education, the council consists of 23 Governor-appointed members, representing the Virginia legislature, the Department of Education, the State Council of Higher Education, the Virginia Community College System, the Board of Education, the Virginia Community College Board, the State Council of Higher Education, and citizens of the Commonwealth (including educators, and business and community leaders).
